The beautiful setting of Wootton Cricket Ground at the foot of Old Boars Hill.

The Western part of Boars Hill, from mid way along Berkeley Road together with the lower part of Fox Lane, falls within the Parish of Wootton.

Sunningwell in 1942 as viewed from Lincombe Lane by Mrs E Aitkin.

The original was given as a wedding present to former Boars Hill residents Sir Henry and Lady Rosamond Lawrence and kindly donated by their grandson, Mike Lawrence, via the Boars Hill Association, to Sunningwell Parish Council. It now hangs in Sunningwell Village Hall opposite St. Leonard's Church.

Note Wittenham Clumps on the horizon slightly left of centre which featured, in exaggerated manner, as the inspiration for several Boars Hill paintings by surrealist Paul Nash who often visited his friend Hilda Harrison who lived on the Hill.

The previous photo was taken from the end of Lincombe Lane at the top of the field behind the cricket ground.  The Eastern part of Boars Hill, from mid way along Berkeley Road and including the upper part of Fox Lane and most of Lincombe Lane, falls within the Parish of Sunningwell.
